Why This Course?

We must recognize the importance of two qualities: intellectual diversity and intellectual humility, in order to focus on the truth and find the signal among the noise of daily communication. These enable us to develop our own viewpoint while gaining insight from other people's ideas.

Having a wide range of sources and seeking out different perspectives are key components of intellectual diversity. We can achieve this by taking inspiration from people from various backgrounds, other disciplines, and personality types. Simply said, this means that we are more likely to hear and recognize the truth wherever it may be.

In the 2020s, information spreads quickly and thickly. And as soon as we start to incorporate the new concepts, newer concepts emerge. While restraining the impulse to just follow what seems to be the trend, we must quickly assess the situation and decide what to do.

Every work now involves using data to some extent. We need to be aware of how data should inform our decision-making and what the risks are in order to fully benefit from the insights made possible by ever-larger data sets.
