Motivation at Workplace

What a person is motivated by makes up the motivational component. Wealth, fame, and power are just a few examples of things that might motivate people, but for those with high emotional intelligence, simply performing a decent job is enough to get them out of bed in the morning. Motivation is the act of igniting in individuals, workers, or employees a passion to strive toward achieving organizational goals.

Role of Motivation

In order to get the job done by his employees, a manager must execute the crucial task of motivation. It does not guarantee that commands and instructions will be carried out even when they are well-intentioned. In the hands of a manager, motivation is a powerful tool for motivating and boosting employee confidence. Management instills a desire to work, which is crucial for achieving corporate goals, through inspiring the workforce. When employees are properly motivated, the following outcomes will occur. 

Effective motivation among employees will result in getting the members of the group to pull their weight effectively, to give their loyalty to carry out the work assigned properly, and to play an important role in contributing towards the purpose the organization has undertaken.

Motivation is a very important for an organization because of the following benefits it provides:

1. Puts human resources into action

Each business needs material, monetary, and human resources to achieve its objectives. The best possible utilization of human resources may be made possible through incentive. This may be achieved through increasing employees' willingness to work. This will support the company in ensuring the greatest resource usage.

2. Improves level of efficiency of employees

The level of a subordinate or employee depends on more than just his credentials and skills. The gap between skill and willingness needs to be closed in order for an employee to perform at his or her best, which also raises the bar for subordinates. This will result in:

a. Increase in productivity,

b. Reducing cost of operations, and

c. Improving overall efficiency.

3. Leads to achievement of organizational goals

The goals of an enterprise can be achieved only when the following factors take place:-

a. There is best possible utilization of resources

b. There is a co-operative work environment

c. The employees are goal-directed, and they act in a purposive manner

d. Goals can be achieved if co-ordination and co-operation takes place simultaneously which can be effectively done through motivation.

4. Builds friendly relationship

Employee happiness is largely influenced by motivation. This may be accomplished by keeping the interests of the staff in mind when you design an incentive programme. This could initiate the following things:

a. Monetary and non-monetary incentives,

b. Promotion opportunities for employees,

c. Disincentives for inefficient employees.

In order to build a cordial, friendly atmosphere in a concern, the above steps should be taken by a manager. This would help in:

From the perspective of a company's reputation and goodwill, worker stability is crucial. Only when employees feel involved in the management can they continue to be loyal to the company. Workers as well as employees will always benefit from the talents and productivity of employees. This will result in a positive market reputation, which will draw capable and qualified individuals to a company. As the saying goes, "Old is gold," which fits the motivational function in this case. The older a person is, the more experience and adaptability they have to a situation that might be advantageous to the business.
